(VIDEO) Fonzworth Bentley Gives Us Some “Fireside Chat”

The Diddy-assisting, frat-dancing, umbrella toting, proper speaking self-proclaimed Hip Hop gentleman Fonzworth Bentley comes out of nowhere with this one. One of the last part-time rappers that I would expect to come out with such a powerful video. He addresses people forgetting the way things were, as well as apologizing to rap legends KRS-ONE, Queen Latifah,  A Tribe Called Quest, and other vets….on behalf of Hip Hop!!! Very interesting video! Check it out and give us your thoughts!

*Check the Rhyme* Panther Soudtrack Various Artist – Freedom

With the declining situation in female hip hop and a lot of the uncessary beefs among no-name female mcs I decided to dedicate our weekly Check The Rhyme session to them. In 1995 Freedom from the Panther soundtrack was recorded. On the track you will hear, Patra, Queen Latifah, Left Eye, Mc Lyte, YoYo, Nefertit, Meshell Ndegeocello, and Salt-N-Pepa. Check it out!

Steady Decline of the Female MC in 2009

Interesting review. Only 3 female rappers dropped in 2009. Let’s hope Nicki Minaj can work her magic in 2010. The female rap game is depending on her. 10 years ago there was so many female mcs you never would have thought the game would look like it does now.

(DVD Trailer) Hip Hop Project

Executive producers Bruce Willis and Queen Latifah bring you this award-winning documentary about some New York rappers trying to fulfill their dreams of breaking into the rap game. It follows a group of teens for 4 years while they overcome life’s obstacles and record an album.  Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons even got involved by donating a recording studio with Bruce Willis, and by appearing on the DVD and dropping some knowledge. This is sure to be an inspiration for wanna-be rappers everywhere. The release date is set for Jan. 5th. Be sure to check it out!!

I was riding to Charlotte yesterday listening to Queen Latifah – Persona and decided to make People feat. Mary J. Blige the Check the Rhyme item today. Classic material.

CHECK THE RHYME

The bad ones discourage, the good ones motivate
The weak  shall perish, the haters gon show the hate
as long as you know what you’re dealing with you can close the gate
Never let them in your world til you know they straight
Cause then again they just people
Life’s just a one stop deal there’s now sequel
Fake ones are so transparent and see through
Love one’s can be so humble when they need you

Brandy feat MC Lyte, YoYo & Queen Latifah – I Wanna Be Down Remix

This is Femceein’ at it’s best!  One of the best femcee tracks ever made. I couldn’t pick one rhyme for the CHECK the RHYME session so I decided to take portions of all 3. CHECK the RHYME. Happy Friday Hiphoppers!

Mc Lyte:

Yeah I get exotic with tha malotic tune I get hypnotic with tha room
but you got to put me down soon I flip a sideshow
if you come my way up down and around even sideways
I’m about as ready as the Lyte can get we can go all out
I ain’t afraid of the sweat but yet I bet you got the techniques
to freak a girl inside out what’s that all about(oooh yeah)

YoYo:

He was born twenty years ago just a pimp toes everyday new clothes
look at tha cut cool-toes on three got tha heat so bluff it sling’ teshies
cause it’s more than twenty duckets struck it kind of rich now his pockets
lookin’ straight slam the deese on tha benzo pancake by tha gate moms
lookin’ straight with her house she got great loungin’ in her new home
that’s about to state

Queen Latifah:

instict
leading me right up your alley way skip tha Moet let’s chill with some
Allazae nuff stress in our day let me massage your mind as my mentals
start to play a ghetto sauce who you are
and I’ll be your sexual chocolate bar and I got to keep it strong for tha
cause and you got to keep me strong for the toss brother mad at me damn
tha family what else could we be when no one else understands us
but me you were the first to tame me uh Big Tif I’m out

*Old School Interview*- Roxanne Shante, MC Lyte and Queen Latifah

Hey ladies this is where it all started. Lyte and Queen have come a long way. Get educated Lil Kim and Foxy are not the first Female Mcs! Nice throwback. Comments?

*Video* Notorious B.I.G.- Juicy

This song made me Love Hip Hop before I was just listening.  It’s hard growing up in an era when you saw the best do it. Kinda like watching Jordan and now seeing Kobe play. There is no comparison. This is back when you had to press rewind to make sure you heard it right. . . Dopeness!!

“We used to fuss when the lanlord dissed us no heat wonder why Christmas missed us”
