(Studio Session) Big Boi “Tangerine” Live From Stankonia

Big Boi let’s us hear “Tangerine” while in Stankonia Studios. This version does not have T.I. on it. Check it out!

(Throwback) Outkast “The Art Of Storytellin” Ft Slick Rick

One of my personal favorites off of ‘Aquemini’. With help from “The Ruler” a.k.a. Slick Rick, this track illustrated what storytelling was all about. Rick was a nice touch to the song, being one of the best storytellers of all time. Dre’ 3000’s verse was one of his most memorable, being both sad and uplifting. I must say, this was also one of their best videos. The puppets, 3000’s choice of wardrobe, and the concept all combined for a potent product. Rappers don’t make much music with long shelf-life anymore.

(LivePerformance) Goodie Mob Performs In Atlanta

Southern legends Goodie Mob perform “Watch For The Hook” live at ATL’s Tabernacle. New music from this bunch would really kill the game right now. If some of these old heads were still consistently making music, a lot of these new jacks would have no position in Hip Hop. So be thankful rookies!!! Check out ATL’s finest in action.

(Throwback Track) Outkast ‘Everlasting’

This track off of the Nothing To Lose soundtrack was one of Outkast’s most slept-on joints. Surely a favorite among true Dungeon Family fans, this track never got much if any airplay. Take a listen…..

[Video] Big Boi “Shine Blockas”

Yes.. maybe this is a sign that we will get some outkast music this year, please big boi dont let us down!!!

(Classic Video) OUTKAST “Player’s Ball”

This classic track that introduced Outkast to the world was originally released on a LaFace Christmas compilation in ’93. Although Southern rappers such as UGK and 8Ball & MJG had made their mark in the South by this time, Antwan and Andre took it up a step. With L.A. Reid and Babyface tag teaming alongside Organized Noize, one of the most influential Hip Hop albums of all time was created: “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik”. Outkast was the label’s first rap group to be signed, spawning acts Goodie Mob, Witchdoctor, and others. The group actually made their first appearance on labelmate TLC’s remix to “What About Your Friends”. Ever since, this Dirty South duo has specialized in reinventing themselves with every album, keeping fans worldwide looking forward to the next chapter for OUTKAST.

This has got to be one of my favorite Outkast songs. I wish they would go ahead and drop. The game is seriously missing them right now.

CHECK THE RHYME:

It’s cool when the kids call me Sunny, the hood calls me Stacks
The B’s call me honey, Hollywood calls me back
Crack and I have a lot in common
We both come up in the 80’s and we keep that bass pumping
That’s a nega-tive comparison, embarrassing
Unfortunate that if you come up fortunate the streets consider you lame
Ha, I thought the name of the game was to have a better life. I guess it ain’t. What a shame
I don’t slang. Never slung but I’m one with the slum that has a name well fitting
Plenty cheese getting. No wonder why they call it the trap
So watch your tail and I’m not kidding
The rats and mice will give advice, they say, “you can paint and draw
Get out of here. Go show them that we’re more than slanging raw.”
That’s when I broke into my Big Rube impression
And I tried to enlighten but that night I learned a lesson
That the morals that you think you got go out the window
When all the other kids are fresh and they got new Nintendo Wiis
And your child is down on her knees praying hard up to God for a whopper with cheese
Do you B) hit the street hard with a flair
Or do you A) go to school for heating and air?
Dare make an honest living or make a crooked killing
Or do a bit of both until you’re holding on a million?
Brilliant. You got one foot in, one foot out
You put your left foot back in and then you shake it all about
You do the hokey pokey til you turn your life around
That’s what it’s all about. 3000 out

(Interview) Killer Mike on Dope Hip Hop

We really need more artists like Killer Mike in the game. Peep this ATL MC kick knowledge on finding dope Hip Hop, hardcore rap, and the mind state of people today. I see Killer Mike as being the down south version of KRS-ONE. People need to hear wisdom, but all rappers don’t educate. After listening to some of these hooks on the radio over and over for the past year, I think I’ve gotten dumber. With the South waiting in limbo for the next Outkast project, Mike is one of the few that still keeps that conscious aspect in the game.

Big Boi Talks Long-Awaited Solo Album, Upcoming Outkast Release

According to Big Boi, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty will mark the beginning of a sting of musical offerings from him and fellow Outkast member Andre 3000.

“This is all in the next year or so, starting with my album coming at the top of the year, Dre 3000 right after me…and when the solo albums come out, depending on how the fans support them, then we’re gonna give them the Outkast album”

“It’s almost like giving them a little sampler from the album and showing how diverse it is,” the rapper/actor told Billboard. “Every song that I put out sounds totally different from the previous songs I put out. I slow-cooked this album and, man, I’m just so happy it’s about to come out. I cannot wait to give it to the fans.”

“I’ve just been trying to make sure we’ve got the right avenues and the right brains and mindsets together to get the marketing and promoting behind it,” the entertainer stated. “When you work on something for, like, two years and 11 months, it’s like your baby. You want to make sure that everybody has taken the project the way they’re supposed to be taking it and the set-up is right.”

Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty is slated to hit stores in 2010.

Bout time damnit…. im tired of samples from Big Boi… give me the damn meal!!!!

Big Boi Not Relocating to Def Jam…. New Album In February

bigboi_cover

Back in July, OutKast rapper Big Boi announced that he would be leaving his longtime label Jive Records and joining the Def Jam roster under the tutelage of his former boss, L.A. Reid.

Last summer, the Atlanta MC told Toronto’s Eye Weekly that he was on the verge of signing a deal with the legendary hip-hop label and it was just a matter of time before it was official. “The lawyers just have to finish their lawyering,” he said.

Five months later and there has been no word on Big Boi’s label status. XXLMag.com recently spoke to Big’s publicist, who said the ATLien is still with Jive. Apparently the label now plans to release his long delayed disc, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty in February 2010.

This is starting too piss me off, ive been waiting all year for this album too drop……. cmon Big Boi and give us some of that ATL Stank!
