Rich Appel the co producer spoke about the Louis Vuitton Don’s cameo
“He’s made reference to it on his website and stuff. In the writers’ room, we just thought it would be great to have him as a character on the town. So we came up with the story. He really liked it and said, ‘Sure!’” One year ago, West came in for a table read at the L.A. building where Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show are all produced.
Mr. West and producer Nabil Elderkin both agreed that Yeezy should remain absent from the video “Coldest Winter” off of 2008’s ‘808’s And Heartbreaks’.
Elderkin tells MTV NEWS: “He’s just cool right now with putting out visuals that fit the song without having to be in it. I think he’s in that place in his life where right now he just wants to make art.” How many other rappers are willing to disappear for the sake of the craft?
The dark, spooky scenery along with a new mix by Mr. West combined for a different effect than originally intended when the song was created. Influenced by the passing of his mother, and a bad relationship, Kanye just wanted fans to “get whatever they want out of it.”
One of 808’s And Heartbreaks’ tracks, this version doesn’t feature the same music, or Mr. West. Very dark and symbolic, one may question what brought about this video made for a track from the year before last. I’m sure conspiracy theorists are getting their slo-mo on right now to give us the ‘hidden’ analysis. It’s a dope video, with a movie-like effect to it. Even the new music mix used is fitting for the visual. It reminds me of what rock videos on MTV looked like in the 80’s and 90’s, and I’m sure this vid can be appreciated within different, diverse audiences.

Vibe listed their Top Ten Most Anticipated Albums of 2010 and 7 out of the 10 albums were Hip Hop. I totally agree with Vibe on this list. I probably would have change the order on a few. If you noticed Dr. Dre or the Game are nowhere on the list. Interesting. Let’s cross our fingers that Andre 3000 actually drops this year.
Check out the 10 projects VIBE is most amped about in the new year.
#10.
Andre 3000, TBD Release Date: 2010? Expected Production: A studio loner, it’s likely Three Stacks’ solo LP will be mostly self-produced, but don’t count out Outkast affiliates Rico Wade or DJ Swift.
