Common has scored another plum acting gig, landing one of the leading roles in a new AMC western that centers around the construction of the Transcontinental Road. The rap star, who recently charmed Queen Latifah in Just Wright, will play Elam, a biracial freed slave seeking his fortunes along the railroad line. Production is scheduled to begin this August.
So Common was headlined the OneMusic Festival last night in ATL….He always kicks a freestyle at his shows, but for this one he asked someone in the audience too kick it off with a special word…”Destiny”.
This might have been one of Commons best freestlyes he has ever spit live…even though we get the bed rock and lil wayne references… I wish more artists would interact with the crowd at the shows….Real Hip Hop Lives!!!
Sidenote: Below is the Lady who gave Common that choice word…Guess it really was “Destiny”!!!!!

Here is the lead single off of John Legend and The Roots Collab. album..Wake Up!!!
Seriously, this song makes me wanna go picket…well its too hot for that, so maybe i will watch Life again, lol.
Its good too hear a new Common verse, since he is going Hollywood, his verses are rare these days, so enjoy!!!!
Ok I am such a fan of this cover. The 60’s 70’s feel will actually capture the sound of this album. The Roots are really expanding their wings. The first single is Wake Up Everybody feat. Common and Melanie Fionna. The album was produced by Quest Love & John Legend. Should be interesting.

So Common was over in France promoting his cologne and i heard had a crazy block party….also make sure you pick up a bottle of his only the brave cologne, it actually smells pretty good!!!
I applaud Big Boi for informing these rap cats that they aren’t freestyling. Like he said, you can’t have your homeboy doing your ad libs while you’re spitting. You can’t spit the same verse more than once when asked to kick a hot 16. Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, and even Snoop Dogg are some of the last MC’s that still freestyle- the old school way. It would be cool if these rappers would just spit and not label the verse a “freestyle”. Its misrepresentation!
