Latin Legends: B-Real and Cypress Hill

CypressHill1

Cypress Hill was one of the first Latin-based Hip Hop groups to achieve commercial success. Spawning hits such as ‘Insane In The Brain’ and ‘How I Could Just Kill A Man’, Cypress Hill presented another version of Hip Hop to the world. Front man B-Real was known for his distinct voice and stoner-friendly image, while the group itself was received well by the Latin community, as well as countless Hip Hip heads. The group’s first album, which was self-titled, sold over 2 million copies, putting Cypress Hill among rap’s elite early in their existence. B-Real and his Latin comrades would go on to sell 7 million records over the course of their career. Like many rappers/rap groups, the ‘Hill’ also had their share of rap beefs, the most memorable being with West Coast veteran Ice Cube and his Westside Connection. The feud was eventually laid to rest, and B-Real and Ice Cube ended up working together on a couple of projects. B-Real would go on to participate in countless collabo’s and even to dabble a bit in production. In this clip, B-Real discusses paving the way for many Latin artists, and the making of the classic: ‘How I Could Just Kill A Man’

Cypress Hill was definitely one of the most groundbreaking, talented, and entertaining groups of the early 90’s.
